Lay Eucharistic Ministry
At Christ Church, there is a group of people who have been licensed to administer the chalice at Sunday services or at services during the week throughout the Church year. Lay Eucharistic Ministers (LEMs) have taken a course administered through the Diocese of Long Island for this purpose. Lay Eucharistic Visitors have traditionally visited local nursing homes, taking communion to the residents there. This portion of our ministry has not begun again due to Covid restrictions. There are also Lay Readers who read the Lessons at Sunday services or other special services during the Church year. Any church member can volunteer to be a Lay Reader—a sign up sheet for interested readers is posted on hallway bulletin board near the conference room.
